Hey everyone!
I am beyond excited to share some amazing news with you all—I’m writing a new book! 🥳 It’s been an incredible journey so far, and this story is one I’ve been passionate about for a long time. If you’ve enjoyed the worlds I’ve created before, trust me, you’re going to love diving into this one. The story is set in a post-apocalyptic, dystopian world with steampunk vibes, brimming with adventure, romance, and a touch of darkness. If those elements make your heart race like they do mine, then I can't wait for you to see what I’ve been working on!
As with any creative process, the first draft is where the magic begins—but it’s also where things are still finding their shape. I wanted to give you a first glance at the opening paragraphs of Chapter One. This is an early draft, so keep in mind it’s just the beginning of what will be an unforgettable journey.
Without further ado, here’s a sneak peek into my new world:
YARA WAKES UP AT the constant calling from her granny but more for the twisting pain in her lower abdomen. Her granny moves the curtain on the window with a sound and warm spring sunlight enters the room touching her porcelain cheek and pink lips. she has been feeling uncomfortable as her throat feels dry and lips chappy. Yara turns to avoid the sunlight and feels wet between her thighs. Suddenly with a missing heartbeat, her sleep is gone in a moment.
It has started!
Her period!
“Yara! what is it?” Yara’s granny comes to the bed. Why aren’t you getting up? Are you feeling sick?” Granny puts her cool hand on her forehead while sitting beside her.
“Mmh...” Yara cannot say a word. She doesn’t want anybody to know that her flower bloomed officially. But her mother who just entered the room, seeing her daughter’s lethargy, grabs the blanket and snatches it to wake her up. But she wasn’t prepared for the view. The bed sheet is covered with blood and her daughter’s face is pale with fear and pain.
“Yara, you… It’s the third time, right?” She mumbles, “So, it’s begun.”
Yara keeps her silence. Because her Flower Blooming is not a good news for her. What she wants to avoid desperately, is gonna happen and she wouldn’t have much to say or do to stop the event.
Mrs. Millfray sits beside her. She looks at her mother-in-law and nods slightly. “Are you in pain? Wanna drink water?”
Yara nods her head. Mrs. Millfray walks towards Yara’s reading table. There’s a water jar and a glass. She pours the water and brings it to Yara. Yara is feeling so uncomfortable that she doesn’t even want to sit up. Besides, the upcoming event is scaring her more.
“Get up, dear.” Her granny helps her to sit up. Her granny has turned 73 this year. some of her hair strands have begun to turn gray but she is still a fit woman. She embraces Yara. “Congratulations, my baby butterfly. Soon you’re gonna be treasured by your husband. You’re gonna be loved and cherished. And you’re gonna have your own babies.” Though her voice is calm and soothing, her excitement is visible. But Yara doesn’t like the idea of ‘being cherished and loved’ by the old husband.
